You will work with the Y team's Site Coordinator to provide academic and enrichment opportunities to the kids in our YMCA Expanded Learning (ELP) program. Be willing to learn. Take action to engage and inspire students, staff, and volunteers.About the YMCA Expanded Learning ProgramWe work with schools in West Contra Costa and Oakland to create afterschool programming that focus on student enrichment in creativity, academic, and physical play. Together, we guide underserved children and families to reach their full potential. Supervise groups of 15-20 students Plan lessons and lead daily activities (academic, enrichment, or physical) Record and track attendance Collaborate with team to create a clean and safe learning environment Your
Qualifications:
Be at least 18 years of age Have completed 48 college units or passed the Instructional Aid (IA) Exam (We will offer IA Exam if the above is not met.) Pass DOJ/FBI criminal background check Have CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications within 30 days of hire Ideally, you know how to do the following Understand Growth Mindset and lead with a Growth Mindset Build strong relationships with staff, students, and families Organize your time to meet deadlines and submit high-quality work Use creativity to explore new ways to enhance or add to our program Show conscious awareness about yourself and your effect on others Take accountability in any issues and challenges that you are a part of WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities Must occasionally lift up to 30 lbs Able to walk for long periods of time Visual ability to clearly monitor activities in both indoor and outdoor settings Mobility to quickly respond to emergencies Our Commitment and Your Commitment Compensation:
$25 per hour Regular School Year:
Ideal candidates must be available at least 2 days out of the week from 1pm-6pm. Location:
You must be able to act as a substitute for at least 3 locations.
